First ever Asian Couture Fashion Week in Bangkok



The first Asia Couture Fashion Week was held at Siam Paragon to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailandís Birthday from 27 September until 30 September. Siam Paragon International Couture Fashion Week 2012 (SICFW2012) is joining host by Siam Paragon Shopping Center, Fide Fashion Weeks of Singapore and Thailand's Department of Cultural Promotion of the Ministry of Culture.

"Siam Paragon International Couture Fashion Week 2012 represents exciting story and provides an ideal opurtunity and promoting Thailand's traditional textiles that reflect the artistry of Thai designers." said Chadatip Chutrakul, Chief Executive Officer of Siam Paragon Shopping Center.

In addition to the couture masterpieces, leading Thai and international designers each presented a special Thai silk collection in 'The Queen of Thai Silk' fashion show using traditional hand-woven silk from The SUPPORT Foundation of H.M. Queen Sirikit in honour of Her Majesty's dedication to preserve and promote Thai textiles. The tribute to Her Majesty also includes an exhibition showcasing collections of rare and ancient Thai textiles, plus an exhibition by The Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles.

Siam Paragon has transformed Asian Couture Fashion Week into a stunning and inspiring setting that befits this world-class fashion show. For the first time in Asia, the couture fashion week has presented a cultural exchange in fashion with top Thai and international couture fashion designers showcasing world class couture collections.

The Siam Paragon International Couture Fashion Week bring together some of the world's most esteemed and acclaimed couturiers and designers alongside renowned Thai designers Flynow by Somchai Songwattana and Chamnan Pakdeesuk. Nagara by Nagara Sambandaraksa and Sirichai Daharanont of Theatre. Joining them are top international designers represented by one of the world's most renowned 'Grand Couturiers', French couturier Christophe Josse and Singapore's renowned couturier, Frederick Lee showcased world class couture collection in Siam Paragon Hall. Paris-based Korean designer Lie Sang Bong, referred as "the Korean McQueen" and Japanese designer Yumi Katsura also presented their collection during the couture fashion week.

An exhibition by Siam Paragon and Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles features images from the 'Pen Yoo Kue H.M. the Queen' book together with clothes and objects such as Her Majesty's creation of national dress, historic court textiles and exquisite textiles are shown for the first time. The grand exhibition is presented to 'Pen Yoo Kue H.M. The Queen.
